Impressions of Nature

Artist Statement

The closer I get to nature, the more fulfilled I am. Watching the sun go down in the evening over White Rock Lake is a favorite pastime of mine. Late evening finds me sneaking closer to the little night herons on the shoreline as I try to catch a pose with my camera. I love to photograph wildlife and use it for my own resource when I paint.

My most painted subject is the sunflower. I glean much inspiration and strength from the sunflowers. They are forever standing tall, so hearty and golden, always facing the warm light of the sun.

Plein air painting with other artists has added much joy to my life. Being outdoors, watching the ever changing light and shadows and hearing the sounds of nature enhances my life, restores my soul and renews my spirit. When I paint, I want to capture those healing, restoring quiet times for others to experience through my art; the exhilarating intoxication of just being one with nature.
